Are you getting new questions about spiritual things? A lot of people who email tell me that they want a spiritual life, but they don’t want all the baggage of church.
I understand that.
We’ve designed a new “Lifesavers” Page on the basics of Christian life. What the Bible is all about in simple terms. And please email me if you look further and have questions. Let’s talk!
And we have some first steps here if you want to be connected to God.
Here are five “first steps” to finding God.
1. Restore your relationship with God. You may find a simple explanation like the 4 Spiritual Laws a place to get connected and ask for God’s peace.
2. Check out the messages on this web site from Sunday morning.
3. Practice going to “The Upper Room” every morning for 10 minutes to get the spiritual exercise of a word from God and a time for prayer. Get a Bible, Atlas, and dictionary that will help you understand what you read.
4. If the first three steps, work, then come to church. Be part of the celebration at 10am Sundays if you are able. Experience the joy that gets faith started. Look at the membership covenants of the United Methodist Church and how what they mean for us as members at Jackson Heights.
5. Begin generosity. Placing others first is the heart of the Christian faith. Giving 10% of your income is what God starts us at and it puts your money where your heart is.
